This past weekend was homecoming, and it was the BEST weekend ever! I had the date of my dreams and such a fun evening, and I'm so excited to be able to share it on the blog. Even though it was a busy night, it was so rejuvenating and filled up my cup, and I'm so grateful for that - but I can't believe that my senior year homecoming is over!
Of course, the homecoming celebrations started before the dance on Saturday. There was the parade and the game, which both felt like a huge deal, since my boyfriend is a starting linebacker and was on homecoming court. I absolutely love cheering him on, and I am so incredibly proud of him!
My favorite part though, is the dance and all of the plans leading up to it. I got to get ready with my mom, sister, and nana, which is so special every single time. Although a few things didn't go according to plan, I greatly appreciated all of their help and hyping up! I got all dolled up for Koa to come over, and we had our first look (he looked amazing, by the way, but there wasn't ever any doubt) and final shoe decisions before we left for pictures.
Pictures are one of my favorite parts of the whole night, and man, we got some adorable ones! We were a little behind the schedule I had planned in my head, but the timing actually worked out really well, and we had a lot of fun along the way. I often feel like these pictures can showcase your personality and relationship in a really fun way, and I think we accomplished that. I'm actually obsessed with all of them, and they're going to be so cute to look back on.
Then we went to dinner at Fuzzy's, a taco shop nearby. We kept it pretty casual but loved the special one on one time together. We were famished and finished our meal pretty quickly, but used the extra time to go through some conversation starters. I would highly suggest this for any relationship, whether with your family members, friends, or significant other, because it helps keep the conversations fun and intentional. Never stop learning about your people, because that's how you keep a relationship growing.
And then we went to the dance and caught up with some of our friends. While the dance can be a little boring, we shared lots of laughs and made the most of every moment together. Afterwards, we were able to share some ice cream and more special conversation, and it was the absolute perfect way to finish the night.
While I love sharing these special experiences on the blog, I always want to leave you with something to walk away with, and lately I've been reminded of how important it is to be intentional with your people. Koa has always gone above and beyond to make me feel beautiful, special, and prioritized, and the night of homecoming was no different. We prayed together and made a point to be present with each other, and being with him made the night so amazing. Whether you're in a romantic relationship or not, it's so important to wisely and purposefully pour into the people in your life. You don't need to invest in everyone, and all of your relationships will look a little different, but life is so much sweeter when you have people you can love big and who will love you big in return. Be prayerful about who you're surrounded by and how God may want to use you in their life, and how He might want to use them in yours. I promise, our God answers prayers, and if you surrender this area of your life to Him, you're going to get to watch Him move in some amazing ways!
In the next few posts, we're going to continue this conversation on relationships by diving into some qualities you need to look for in a guy before dating him, as well as some characteristics you should have before getting into a relationship at all. I want to challenge you to raise your standards for your relationships and be able to enjoy all that God has for you in dating, but that won't happen if we keep settling. So friends, get ready for the next posts to come!
